The cottage homes I knew about were by Highcroft hospital, I didn't know anybody who was there, but I think my eldest sister went to school at wood end lane ? And one I'd her friends lived there.,, I am found back a few years

Do you mean Moor End Lane School Marigold?

The only school I know in Wood End Lane/ Wood End Rd is the Queensbury School but I think thats a newish school

Josiah Mason's Orphanage

Hi
I am writing a book on the orphanage on Orphanage Road, Erdington which was founded by Josiah Mason. Looking for anyone who has any memories of the orphanage (either as a resident, a worker, or a neighbour) or of the orphanage school.
Anyone interested, please get in touch either on here or email me at gudrun.limbrick@wordworks.org.uk

Hi

I've done a lot of research on Erdington Cottage Homes (I live just around the corner from them) and would be happy to share what I know if anyone has any questions etc.
More information can be found at http://www.childrenscottagehomes.org.uk/erdington.html
Cheers
Gudrun

Thanks Frothy - I've spoken to some people with great memories of being at the orphanage, really fascinating stuff!

If I was still living there the garden would be tidier than that, what a mess.

Salford Bridge 1937, Gravelly hill straight on with Tyburn road to the right.
Notice the bobby in the white coat, try getting them to do traffic duty like that today.
